You Are the Bride of Christ

Episode 6 Blog Post

Opening

We began this series in Papua New Guinea, with Dan standing in a church full of faithful believers and noticing a quiet absence. We end it here, with an invitation.

What We Explored

In our final episode, Dan brought everything together around a single extraordinary truth: the Messianic Covenant is not a transaction. It is a betrothal. And the fourth element, the Holy Spirit, is the engagement gift. The Spirit that descends on those who complete the covenant is not a reward for good behaviour or a bonus for the particularly devout. It is the gift a bridegroom gives to His bride at the moment of their engagement. It is God saying: you are mine, and I am sealing it.

What does that mean practically? Dan described the engagement gift as a communication channel between the human spirit and the divine Spirit that operates beyond the limits of human language. Through the gift of tongues, the Spirit intercedes through us with groanings that cannot be expressed in natural language, because natural language is not adequate for what needs to be expressed. And through that same gift, God imparts to the believer the deepest dimensions of His own divine nature and character.

To see yourself as the bride of Christ is not a poetic flourish. It is the most accurate description of who you are in relation to God. You are loved. You are pursued. You are betrothed. You are being prepared for a union that will outlast everything else that exists. And the Spirit living within you is the seal of that promise, the evidence that the bridegroom has paid the price and is coming back for His bride.

A MOMENT THAT STAYED WITH ME

I did not expect this series to affect me as deeply as it has. Sitting with Dan across six conversations, watching him unpack a pattern that God embedded in Scripture fifteen hundred years before its fulfilment, I found myself seeing the love of God differently. Not as a doctrine to believe but as a pursuit to respond to. If you have been listening to this series, I hope you have felt it too.

SOMETHING TO SIT WITH

What does it mean to you, right now, to be called the bride of Christ? Not as theology to agree with, but as an identity to live from?
