The name Ashray, in simplest terms means shelter, refuge and sanctuary, and a key reflection of the project’s purpose: to create practical, durable spaces that can support individuals, families and communities while contributing to sustainable local opportunity.

A proposed community building and affordable shelter initiative is currently being developed for the West Bengal region of India.

Through Ashray, Tectonic Ministries and its project partners are exploring a locally based building and manufacturing model that can help deliver quality steel structures for residential, community and light-commercial use.

Rather than relying entirely on imported, completed buildings, our long-term vision is to establish the capability to manufacture key building components within India. This would allow future projects to be supplied more efficiently while supporting local employment, training and skills development.
