EPISODE 4 | ENTERING THE COVENANT

Opening

We spent three episodes building toward this one. The foundation is laid. The evidence is clear. The hard questions have been answered. And now we come to the most personal question of the whole series. What does someone actually do?

What We Explored

Dan Murphy began this episode by saying something I want to carry with me. Receiving the Holy Spirit is not earned and it is not achieved. It is received. That distinction matters more than it might seem. Because earning and achieving are things we are very good at. We know how to work toward something, to prepare for it, to prove ourselves worthy of it. But receiving requires a different posture entirely. It requires open hands.

We talked about the laying on of hands, about whether it matters to have someone present to pray with you or whether God meets people when they are alone. We talked about what the moments after receiving look like, what to expect and what not to be afraid of. And we talked about what living as a full covenant keeper looks like day to day, how the Holy Spirit changes the texture of ordinary life from the inside out.

And then Dan did something I was not prepared for. He shared a moment from across his decades of ministry, a specific person, a specific occasion, where he watched someone enter the fullness of the covenant and saw what it did to them. I am not going to tell you what it was here. That moment belongs in the episode. But I will tell you that the studio went very quiet, and neither of us spoke for a few seconds after he finished.

The episode ends with an invitation. Dan speaks it directly, personally, and without any of the polish that sometimes gets between a preacher and the person they are talking to. He is speaking to you, whoever you are, wherever you are in this journey. Whether you received the Holy Spirit years ago and this series has given you a new language for something you have always known, or whether you are hearing about this for the very first time today. The invitation is the same. And it is still open.

A MOMENT THAT STAYED WITH ME

I have been hosting conversations with Dan Murphy for months now and I have watched him be precise and theological and historically rigorous across every series we have recorded. This episode was different. In this episode he was simply a man who has seen God do something extraordinary in human lives across four decades of ministry, and who wanted to tell you that it is available to you too. That is the episode I will remember longest.

SOMETHING TO SIT WITH

The invitation Dan extends at the end of this episode is a real one. If you are ready to receive, what is stopping you? And if you have already received, who in your life needs to hear what you have heard?
